At the end of the Khmer Rouge regime, the province of Prey Veng is considered as one of the poorest in Cambodia. Srey Thy, a seventeen-year-old girl, decides to leave for Phnom Penh to find a job and provide for her family. As many other young Khmer women coming from the country attracted by the lights of the big city, she will face the harsh reality of life. She works in a bar and later becomes a karaoke singer.
