A family is treated cruelly by the Khmer Rouge because VISUTH, the youngest son of the family, secretly cooks rice in the forest. All members of this family are executed by Angkar. Fortunately, VISAL, the eldest son, safely escapes from execution. The political situation of the Khmer Rouge and POL POT becomes worse and leads to internal conflict. VISAL luckily meets members of a revolt movement who are heading toward Vietnam.
