On 27 April 2018, Panh attended the Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran, Iran to receive the honor Peace Prize. The award was presented by a renown American film director and producer, Oliver Stone.
As stated in the press release by the organizer of the festival, Panh is a filmmaker whose works mainly focus on the need of peace in the world.
In about 30 years of his life career, Panh has directed a lot of movies which has received global recognition such as Site 2, Cambodia: Between War and Peace, Rice People, The Burnt Theater, The Missing Picture, and Exile.
The recent work of this Oscar-nominated film director, First They Killed My Father, co-directed with Angelina Jolie received a great deal of attention and success from audiences around the world.
