Mr. Sovichea CHEAP developed his film skill since 1986 with the Cinema Department and Cultural Diffusion of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia and through various technical trainings in France and Cambodia. Starting as a camera assistant in 1988 and Editor, he occupied a wide range of positions: from Camera Assistant, Set Design Assistant, Location Manager and so on for national and international film projects.
Since 2002, he left the camera and editing to become a Unit Production Manager, and then became Line Producer and Executive producer on large scale of foreign film productions shot in Cambodia. He also organized and followed most of the films productions of French- Cambodian filmmaker, Mr. Rithy Panh.
In 2009, he was appointed as Director of Cambodia Film Commission until now due to his wide knowledge of the Cambodian administration system, the understanding of film production reality as well as the experience working with foreign film production. In 2012, he received a Certificate of Film Commission Professional granted by the Association of Film Commissioners International University in the USA.
