The 2017 ASEAN-Republic of Korea Film Leaders Incubator (FLY) is taking place from 20 November to 02 December in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This international program is initiated in 2012 by South Korea’s Busan Film Commission (BFC) and the Asian Film Commission Network for youth aged 16-25 from the 10 countries of ASEAN and South Korea.

The hosting country of this event is rotated annually among the member states. Back in 2016 FLY organizers have partnered with Cambodia Film Commission (CFC) to co-host this important event in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

FLY brings 2 representatives from each country, making the total of 22 talented filmmakers. The program aims to provide the trainees the opportunities to meet and learn from the mentors in the film industry. They are divided into two groups and each group is assigned to produce a short film.

Many scholarships opportunities are provided for the outstanding trainees. First, two trainees will be selected for the Benex Award (grants of $5,000 to each awardee) by Benex Foundation. Second is a scholarship for one trainee to study at Asian Film Academy (AFA), one of the program of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival.

The 2017 FLY is co-organized by Busan Film Commission and the Indonesian Film Producers Association (Aprofi) and Jogia-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF). The program is jointly sponsored by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund and Indonesia's Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf).
